The Ultimate Guide to 4th of July Fireworks in Charleston, SC

Nothing says SUMMER like a 4th of July Fireworks show.  Still trying to decide what to do or where to go?  We've done the leg work for you!

Are you up for an all-day celebration with dancing, live music, food, drink, and fun in the sun?  Or a quiet low-key evening on a picnic blanket with your loved ones? Whatever your pleasure, Charleston has a myriad of options for everyone starting early in the morning through the late night.

And let's not forget how lucky we are to be living in the USA!

Sullivan's Island Parade

  • Date: July 2nd
  • Time: 8:30am
  • Location: Stith Park (2050 Middle Street)
  • The Town of SI hosts its annual golf cart and bicycle parade which is open to the community.  So adorn your cart, bicycle, stroller and yourself with Regalia Americana and join in the fun.  The parade marches down Middle Street to the Volunteer Fire Department's Fish Fry Shack at Middle and Hennessy Streets.

Sullivan's Island Picnic

  • Date: July 2nd
  • Time: 6:00pm
  • Location: Stith Park Playground (2050 Middle Street)
  • Community picnic and cookout with live shag music by Shem Creek Boogie Band at the gazebo and surrounding park and playground.  If picnics aren't your thing, hop across the street to any of the great restaurants or pubs along Middle Street in Sullivan's Island's business district.
  • Fireworks show begins at 9:00p

Isle of Palms Fireworks

  • Date: July 4th
  • Time: 9:00pm
  • Location: Isle of Palms County Park (1 14th Avenue)
  • This display can be seen up and down the beach and there are plenty of options to enjoy it.  The front beach district is a great place for dinner, dessert, and music.  Insider's tip: bring your picnic basket and beach chairs and have your own private viewing party anywhere up or down the beach.  Just be sure to park in designated areas and clean up before you leave!
  • Edit: unusually high tide expected at 9pm so the amount of beach will be limited.
  • Late action: Hit The Windjammer for live music from Weird Science after the show.

Mt. Pleasant "4th of July Fireworks Blast"

  • Date: July 4th
  • Time: 9:00pm
  • Location: USS Yorktown at Patriots Point
  • One of the area's most impressive fireworks displays is launched from onboard the USS aircraft carrier USS Yorktown on the Charleston Harbor.  Parking at Patriots Point is plentiful and available on a first-come/first-served basis for $10 per vehicle.  Alternative viewing site: Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park and Pier

Mt. Pleasant "Uncle Sam Jam"

  • Date: July 4th
  • Time: 7pm
  • Location: Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park & Pier (71 Harry Hallman Blvd)
  • Live music from Permanent Vacation  begins at 8pm. The pier is a great vantage point for viewing multiple fireworks displays since it stretches way out into the Charleston Harbor. Beverages will available for purchase and the Riverwatch Cafe will be open for food service. This is a ticketed event that usually sells out in advance:  https://www.ccprc.com/1327/Uncle-Sam-Jam

Downtown "Sea Stars and Stripes"

  • A little more exclusive, this late-evening cookout and viewing party is a $60 ticket for adults and $30 for children 3-12.  Wine, soft drinks, local Holy City craft beers, barbecue, lowcountry boil included in the price of admission.  A great place to escape the heat, learn about our marine environment, and enjoy the Patriots Point fireworks from across the Harbor.

Downtown "The Joe"

  • Time/tickets: www.riverdogs.com
  • Location: Joe Riley Ballpark, Home of the Charleston Riverdogs (360 Fishburne Street)
